As the documentation for that function mentions adf as a supported format, why don't you try using that function? Then you can come back with a specific question if you encounter any issues.

Hi,
Here
is the list of supported functions to read and write geo-spatial data. These functions require Mapping Toolbox. With Mapping Toolbox, you can work with vector data as X-Y or latitude-longitude vectors.
